The New Worlds Observer: a mission for high-resolution spectroscopy of extra-solar terrestrial planets

This is an early paper on the New Worlds Observer concept based on the use of a pinhole camera. The paper introduces the pinhole camera concept, along with technological challenges focusing on starshade design. The paper explains telescope and spectrograph requirements as well as orbit options. The report concludes with science objectives, focusing on spectroscopy and exoplanet imaging.
